Allied health careers cover the broad range of healthcare professions outside of physicians and nursing: the technologists, therapists, and technicians who deliver hands-on diagnostic and therapeutic care. They are among the most accessible ways into healthcare, since most can be entered in about two years through an associate degree, with no medical school required.

Demand is strong and steady. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects healthcare occupations to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through 2034, adding about a year. This guide covers what allied health is, the top jobs and what they pay, and how to get started in 2026.

What Are Allied Health Careers?

Allied health refers to the credentialed professionals who work alongside doctors and nurses across diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. The category spans imaging, surgical support, and therapy, among many other roles. What these jobs share is a focus on direct, skilled, hands-on care and a training path that is shorter than the one required for physicians or registered nurses.

That combination is why allied health jobs appeal to so many people: meaningful patient-facing work, strong demand, and a realistic route in. 17c起草社区 is an allied health school built around exactly these programs, with day and night options, externships, and career services. You can see the full lineup on the programs page.

Top Allied Health Careers, Salaries & Outlook in 2026

The following five careers are among the most in-demand allied health roles, and each is reachable through a two-year associate degree. Salary and growth figures come from the BLS, reflecting May 2024 medians and 2024 to 2034 projections.

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Sonographers use ultrasound to capture images of organs, tissues, and blood flow, supporting diagnosis across specialties like abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and cardiac imaging. The work is radiation-free and patient-facing. Sonographers earn a median of $89,340, with 13% projected growth, among the fastest in this group. Learn more on the diagnostic medical sonography program page.

MRI Technologist

MRI technologists operate magnetic resonance imaging scanners, which use magnetic fields rather than radiation to produce detailed images of soft tissue, the brain, and the spine. It is a technically advanced role with strong pay, a median of about $88,180 for the radiologic and MRI technologist group, which is projected to grow 5%. See the MRI program for details.

Occupational Therapy Assistant

Occupational therapy assistants help patients rebuild the everyday skills they need to live independently, working under an occupational therapist across pediatrics, rehabilitation, and geriatric care. OTAs earn a median of $68,340, and the role is projected to grow about 19%, one of the fastest-growing careers in the country. Explore the occupational therapy assistant program.

Physical Therapist Assistant

Physical therapist assistants work under physical therapists to help patients recover strength, mobility, and movement after injury or illness. The role is hands-on and rehabilitation-focused. PTAs earn a median of $65,510, with growth projected around 16%, well above average. Learn more on the physical therapist assistant program page.

Surgical Technologist

Surgical technologists prepare the operating room, maintain the sterile field, and pass instruments to surgeons during procedures. It is a fast-paced role at the center of the surgical team. Surgical techs earn a median of $62,830, with 5% projected growth. See the surgical technology program for more.

Here is how the five compare at a glance.

Career Median Salary (2024) Projected Growth (2024-2034) Credential
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer $89,340 13% ARDMS
MRI Technologist $88,180 5% ARRT
Occupational Therapy Assistant $68,340 19% NBCOT (COTA)
Physical Therapist Assistant $65,510 16% NPTE license
Surgical Technologist $62,830 5% NBSTSA (CST)

Why Allied Health Is a Strong Career Change

For anyone weighing a healthcare career change, allied health is one of the most realistic moves available. The entry point is an associate degree you can complete in about two years, and most programs do not require a prior healthcare background, only a high school diploma and the prerequisite coursework.

The payoff is meaningful. These roles offer pay above many entry-level fields, strong and stable demand, and the kind of direct patient impact that draws people to healthcare in the first place. The honest tradeoff is that allied health takes real training and certification, since these are skilled clinical roles. But the path is far shorter and more direct than becoming a physician or registered nurse, which makes it well suited to career changers who want to retrain without spending the better part of a decade in school. Financial aid is available to those who qualify, and you can review options on the financial aid page.

How to Get Started in Allied Health in 2026

Entering the field follows a clear, repeatable path.

First, choose a field that fits your interests, whether that is imaging, therapy, or the operating room. Next, enroll in an accredited associate degree program, which typically takes about two years. Accreditation matters, since it determines your eligibility to sit for certification exams. 17c起草社区&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s programs hold the relevant accreditations for their fields, including CAAHEP for sonography, ACOTE for occupational therapy assisting, and CAPTE for physical therapist assisting, with institutional accreditation through ABHES.

From there, complete the clinical training or fieldwork built into your program, then pass the certification or licensure exam for your field, the ARDMS for sonography, ARRT for MRI, NBCOT for OTA, NPTE for PTA, or NBSTSA for surgical technology. Some roles also require state licensure.

If you want to advance further, 17c起草社区 also offers a Bachelor&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s of Health Science and a Master of Occupational Therapy for those building toward leadership or expanded clinical roles. For the practical next steps, the getting started page walks through enrollment.

Which Allied Health Career Is Right for You?

The right fit usually comes down to the kind of work that draws you. If you are interested in imaging and diagnostic technology, sonography or MRI is a strong match. If the operating room appeals to you, surgical technology puts you at the center of the surgical team. And if helping people recover and regain independence is what motivates you, occupational therapy assisting or physical therapist assisting is built around exactly that.

All five share the same fundamentals: about two years of training, strong demand, and meaningful, patient-facing work.

Start Your Allied Health Career

If a career in allied health sounds like the right move, the next step is a conversation with an admissions advisor. 17c起草社区&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s accredited programs are built around hands-on training, clinical experience, and career support, with day and night class options to fit your schedule. Healthcare added more jobs than any other sector in the latest federal projections, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects to be the fastest-growing industry sector through 2034 at 8.4% expansion. For someone weighing a career change, the appeal is concrete: several technician roles pay above the $49,500 national median wage and take two years or less to train for.

This comparison covers five technician careers you can enter through an associate degree, with current BLS salary and growth data for each. The goal is a side-by-side view so you can match a path to your goals, budget, and timeline.

How to Compare Healthcare Technician Careers

Three numbers matter most when you weigh medical field jobs and salaries: median pay, projected job growth, and time to train. Pay tells you the earning floor. Growth tells you how secure the role will be over a decade. Training time tells you how fast you can start earning.

A fourth factor is fit. Two roles can pay similarly while demanding very different temperaments, one focused on diagnostic imaging, another on hands-on patient rehabilitation. The data narrows the field; your own preferences settle it.

The Five Careers at a Glance

Every figure below comes from the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, with median wages from May 2024 and growth projected from 2024 to 2034.

Career Median Wage (2024) Projected Growth Typical Entry
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer $89,340 13% Associate degree
MRI Technologist $88,180 5% Associate degree
Occupational Therapy Assistant $68,340 18% Associate degree
Physical Therapist Assistant $65,510 16% Associate degree
Surgical Technologist $62,830 5% Associate degree

All five outpace the 3% average growth rate for all occupations. The rest of this page looks at what each role involves.

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Sonographers operate ultrasound equipment to capture images that physicians use to diagnose and monitor conditions. The BLS reports a and projects 13% growth through 2034, much faster than average, driven by an aging population and the shift toward non-invasive imaging.

The work suits people who like precision and direct patient interaction. 17c起草社区&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s diagnostic medical sonography program covers the technical and clinical skills the role requires. For more on pay, see the sonography salary trends breakdown.

MRI Technologist

MRI technologists run magnetic resonance imaging scanners to produce detailed cross-sectional images of organs and tissues. The BLS lists a for MRI technologists, with 5% growth projected for radiologic and MRI technologists through 2034.

The role rewards comfort with technology and physics alongside steady patient communication, since many people feel anxious inside the scanner. 17c起草社区&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s MRI program prepares graduates for the ARRT certification exam. The MRI tech salary guide covers earning potential in detail.

Occupational Therapy Assistant

Occupational therapy assistants work under occupational therapists to help patients regain the skills needed for daily living after injury, illness, or disability. The BLS reports a and projects 18% growth for occupational therapy assistants and aides through 2034, among the fastest of any role on this list.

This is hands-on, relationship-driven work that suits patient, encouraging people. 17c起草社区&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s occupational therapy assistant program leads to an associate degree and prepares graduates for the national certification exam. For a closer look at the role, see what an occupational therapy assistant does.

Physical Therapist Assistant

Physical therapist assistants help patients recover movement and manage pain under the direction of a physical therapist. The BLS lists a and projects 16% growth for physical therapist assistants and aides through 2034.

The work is physical and social, well suited to people who enjoy coaching others through progress. 17c起草社区&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s physical therapist assistant program covers the clinical foundation, and this overview of what a physical therapist assistant does explains the day-to-day.

Surgical Technologist

Surgical technologists prepare operating rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist surgeons during procedures. The BLS reports a and projects 5% growth for surgical assistants and technologists through 2034, with about 8,700 openings each year.

The role fits people who stay calm under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced team setting. 17c起草社区&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s surgical technology program prepares graduates for the CST certification exam. The surgical technologist salary guide covers compensation and advancement.

Which Path Fits You?

The numbers cluster closer than they first appear. Sonography and MRI lead on pay, both near $89,000, and suit people drawn to diagnostic imaging and technology. Occupational therapy assistant and physical therapist assistant lead on growth, 18% and 16%, and reward those who want direct, rehabilitation-focused patient contact. Surgical technology offers the fastest entry into the operating room for people who want a hands-on surgical role.

All five share a short training path and demand above-average growth, so the deciding factor is rarely the data alone. It is whether you would rather capture images, support recovery, or stand beside a surgeon. Spending time on that question is worth as much as comparing the salaries.

Start Your Healthcare Career

If one of these paths fits what you want, the next step is a conversation with an admissions advisor. 17c起草社区 offers associate degree programs in all five fields, each built around hands-on training and clinical experience. Continuing Education and Its Importance

Continuing education, or CE, is an essential part of the journey for healthcare professionals in California. It helps you stay on top of the latest advancements, techniques, and best practices in your field. But let&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s be clear: meeting CE requirements isn&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;t just about ticking off a box; it&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s all about keeping your skills sharp and building trust with your patients and colleagues. For many in the healthcare world, completing specific continuing education courses is a must to renew licenses and stay active in their professions.

Since CE requirements can vary quite a bit across different healthcare specialties, it鈥檚 important to know what鈥檚 needed for your specific role. This guide will help you navigate your continuing education responsibilities, offering a clear path toward compliance and professional growth.

Overview of Continuing Education Requirements by Profession

The specifics of CE requirements differ considerably from one healthcare profession to another, each addressing the unique challenges faced by its members. Let鈥檚 break down what鈥檚 needed for some key roles:

  • Registered Nurses (RNs): Need to complete .
  • Physicians: Must fulfill within four years of getting their license or by their second renewal, whichever comes first.
  • Home Health Aides: Required to get or continuing education units (CEUs) during their certification period.
  • Physical Therapists and Assistants: Must complete for license renewal.

Getting to know the specific requirements for your profession can really help you manage your license renewals and maintain compliance with ease. After all, keeping your licensure up to date is vital for ensuring high standards of care.

Detailed Breakdown of Credit Hour Requirements

Each healthcare profession in California has its own set of CE credit hour requirements that are crucial for keeping your license active.

Nurses

Registered nurses in California need to clock in 30 contact hours of continuing education every two years. This ensures that you鈥檙e equipped with the latest knowledge and practices necessary for top-notch patient care. Topics like neonatal care, critical thinking, and new technologies in healthcare are frequently included in these courses.

You can earn CE credits through various formats, like workshops, webinars, and online courses. This flexibility allows you to fit education into your busy schedule, helping you stay compliant without compromising your responsibilities.

Physicians

For physicians, there鈥檚 a one-time mandatory continuing education requirement during the first four years after getting licensed or by the time of their second renewal, whichever comes first. This is crucial for keeping medical skills updated.

Typically, physicians dive into a range of educational formats, including conferences, seminars, and online courses that focus on specialized skills or new treatment methodologies. Engaging in these learning opportunities helps physicians remain informed about the latest developments in medicine, which directly benefits their patients.

Home Health Aides

Home health aides must complete 24 hours of in-service training or continuing education units (CEUs) during their certification period. This training is key for ensuring that aides can deliver safe and effective care, especially in home settings where conditions can be challenging.

The training topics can range from infection control to patient communication strategies. Plus, many local organizations and community colleges offer and CE opportunities, making it easier for home health aides to meet their requirements.

Physical Therapists and Assistants

Physical therapists and assistants need to earn 30 contact hours of continuing education every two years for license renewal. This requirement helps keep them informed about new treatment techniques and the skills necessary for effective patient rehabilitation.

Courses for physical therapy often cover topics like manual therapy techniques, exercise science, and new technologies in rehabilitation. By continually developing their skills, these professionals can deliver the highest quality of care, which leads to better patient outcomes.

Sources for Accredited Continuing Education Providers

Finding accredited continuing education courses is essential for professionals looking to meet their CE requirements effectively. Plenty of reputable organizations and online platforms offer an abundance of CE options tailored to various healthcare specialties.

You might want to explore accredited bodies such as:

  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC): Provides an array of CE courses specifically designed for nurses.
  • California Medical Association (CMA): Offers valuable resources and CE opportunities for physicians.

These organizations ensure that courses meet state requirements while also offering relevant and beneficial educational content for practicing professionals. Many also host workshops, webinars, and networking events that provide enriching learning experiences beyond typical courses.

Compliance and Consequences of Non-Compliance

Not meeting your continuing education requirements can have serious repercussions for healthcare professionals. Without the necessary CE credits, you might face a lapse in your professional license, making it difficult to practice legally.

Additionally, the fallout from non-compliance can affect several important areas:

  • Career Advancement: Missing out on education can stall your career growth and limit opportunities for promotions or specializations.
  • Reputation: Colleagues and patients may question your commitment and professionalism if you appear to neglect your continuing education.

That鈥檚 why keeping up with your continuing education is so important. By staying proactive and informed about your requirements, you protect your credentials and expand your knowledge, ultimately enhancing your professional reputation.

New Year, New You, Start Now!

Here at CBD, many students are beginning a new school year in line with the start of 2019.  With a full team of staff and faculty behind them, what better time to make a resolution- and keep it too?!  Start goals with plans and follow through, otherwise they鈥檙e just wishes.  Follow these tips and tricks, and don鈥檛 ditch your resolution this year.

13 Ways to Make (and Keep) a Resolution

1. Start Right Now!

January isn鈥檛 exactly the warmest or brightest month, but resolutions don鈥檛 have to wait until the New Year.  Anytime is a good time to start fresh!  Don鈥檛 hesitate for the most opportune moment to begin.  When your body and mind are in better shape, so is your will power. Use that momentum to start your resolution and keep a promise to yourself.New year resolutions

2. Make One Change At a Time

Most resolutions require behavioral changes.  However, just as unhealthy behaviors take time to stick, so does replacing or reverting the unhealthy behavior.  Our will power only has enough capacity for one change, not several at one time.  So focus on a change you actually want to make for yourself, not something you think you should want or what someone else wants for you. This will help you to not overwhelm yourself!  Your goals should challenge you, but you can鈥檛 do it all, and that鈥檚 okay!  Concentrate on all those little subcategories so you can give it your all.

3. Break It Down

Set a S.M.A.R.T. goal: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely.  Set a time frame for an objective that relates to your personal goals (eg: By the end of June, I want to interview for Cedar- Sinai in their Body Department).  Remember that sometimes a year is not enough, so assess that early on.  Get SUPER specific and clearly define your goals (eg: Practice scanning for an hour every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5:30PM, and volunteer at Cedar every Friday).  You should be able to track your progress (eg: Measure the amount of successful scans, diagnoses, and accurate reports). and watch them grow!) Follow this for a template!  Think small acts of will, not weeks of strain, to achieve an attainable, relevant goal.  Once you meet those small changes, the easier it will be for you to keep going.  Most importantly, be patient.

4. Flex That Muscle

Will power is a muscle, so the more you use it the stronger it gets.  Think about it like leg day.  Keep consistency for two weeks and you鈥檒l see more progress as opposed to taking on tasks that don鈥檛 call for self-control.  However, if you push too hard or push yourself under challenging circumstances (ie. Surrounding yourself with stressors and cupcakes, see tip /blog/category/student-life/feed/12), you鈥檙e more likely to collapse under the weight of a dumbbell or cave for that sweet treat.  When times get tough, focus hard on the process rather than the end goal.

5. Pencil It In

Schedule it! 鈥淭hat which is scheduled gets done.鈥 Make time.  So many make the excuse of 鈥淚 don鈥檛 have time.鈥  That鈥檚 simply not true.  The time is there if you set it aside.  Even if all you have time for is 30 minutes, assess that in your SMART goal.  When someone says to you 鈥淥h, I want to schedule a meeting for this day at this time,鈥 you have the power to say 鈥淣o, I鈥檓 sorry, I can鈥檛.  I have something important scheduled I have to do at that time.鈥

6. Get Your Friends and Family Involved

Tell people about your goal.  Publicize your goal to friends, family, on Facebook, or make a Snapchat story!  Social support is critical.  It takes courage and vulnerability to tell others your dreams, and your friends will hold you accountable.

7. Avoid the All or Nothing

Turn your negative punishments into positive reinforcements and get happy! Watch a funny movie or do something that puts you in a good mood.  That little will power muscle will thank you for it.  If you鈥檙e trying to watch what you eat, change your mentality from taking a cheat day to making a treat day.  Turn those negative punishments into positive reinforcement.  Outwit that inner rebel by creating a reward for yourself rather than strict rules with loopholes.  Ultimately it鈥檚 better to do something than nothing.

8. Have Some Orange Juice

Practicing self-restraint, self-discipline, and will power reduces glucose levels in the brain.  Put some real- not from concentrate- or lemonade in that body!  It replenishes those glucose levels, making you more ready to take on the challenge.

9. It鈥檚 the Little Things

Remember the small victories, and don鈥檛 let minor slips be an excuse to quit altogether.  Make a list of 50 or 100 things you鈥檙e proud of -even if it鈥檚 just getting out of bed on a day when you鈥檇 rather not- to remind you how much will power you really have and remind yourself of your successes.  Don鈥檛 beat yourself up. Get back on the horse. Forgive yourself.

10.鈥Nice Shoes鈥

Hold a door open for 10 people a day.  Genuinely comment on someone鈥檚 outfit or hair five times a day.  Volunteer at a shelter once a week.  Keep it consistent and watch your feeling of personal power increase as you make someone鈥檚 day.  Release your tendency to blame your circumstances or others for not following through on your resolutions.

11.Write It DownNew year Goals

We humans are highly susceptible to visual cues.  Put your goal in a calendar, set a reminder on your phone, or make it your computer screensaver. Write it somewhere you can see it every day.  It can even be in multiple places.  It will remind you of when you first made that goal and will recapture the intensity of willing to attain it.

12. Recognize Your Own Self 鈥揇efeating Behaviors

Create an environment that will help you achieve your goals, and get away from whatever temptation is there until you鈥檝e eaten and are rested.  Stress will wear you down, but you don鈥檛 have to let it.  Practice self-care

13.Don鈥檛 Be Afraid to Seek Professional Help

Come to the Student Resource Center and get information about counseling or talk out your goals with our Student Resources, Job Placement, and Career Services team.  Make an appointment with the 24 Hour Fitness Center on our first floor or visit your local gym for a membership

Bill of Rights - Amendments

The Bill of Rights (Amendments 1 to 10)

The amendments that became the Bill of Rights were actually the last ten of the twelve amendments proposed in 1789. Here are 5 of the first 10 Bill of Rights that are well-known and cornerstones of our democracy:

  • First Amendment: addresses the rights of freedom of religion (prohibiting Congressional establishment of a religion over another religion through Law and protecting the right to free exercise of religion), freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom of petition.
  •  Second Amendment: guarantees the right of individuals to possess firearms.
  •  Fourth Amendment: guards against searches, arrests, and seizures of property without a specific warrant or a &/blog/category/student-life/feed/8220;probable cause&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8221; to believe a crime has been committed. Some rights to privacy have been inferred from this amendment and others by the Supreme Court.
  •  Sixth Amendment: guarantees a speedy public trial for criminal offenses. It requires trial by a jury, guarantees the right to legal counsel for the accused, and guarantees that the accused may require witnesses to attend the trial and testify in the presence of the accused. It also guarantees the accused a right to know the charges against him.
  •  Seventh Amendment: assures trial by jury in civil cases.

Subsequent Amendments (11 to 27)

Amendments to the Constitution after the Bill of Rights cover many subjects. The majority of the seventeen later amendments stem from continued efforts to expand individual civil or political liberties, while a few are concerned with modifying the basic governmental structure drafted in Philadelphia in 1787. Here are 5 significant amendments beginning with the abolition of slavery in our country:

  •  Thirteenth Amendment (1865): Abolishes slavery and authorizes Congress to enforce abolition.
  •  Fifteenth Amendment (1870): Forbids the federal government and the states from using a citizen&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;s race, color, or previous status as a slave as a qualification for voting.
  •  Nineteenth Amendment (1920): Prohibits the federal government and the states from forbidding any citizen to vote due to their sex.
  •  Twenty-second Amendment (1951): Limits president to two terms.
  •  Twenty-sixth Amendment (1971): Prohibits the federal government and the states from forbidding any citizen of age 18 or greater to vote on account of their age.

Constitution DayThe History of Constitution Day

Citizens of the United States have celebrated Independence Day and Presidents&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217; Day since the 1870s, and in 2005, the nation began to celebrate Constitution Day. Also know as Citizenship Day, Constitution Day is an American holiday honoring the day 39 delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution. This historic date was September 17, 1787.

In 1939, the New York City news tycoon William Randolph Hearst suggested the creation of a holiday to celebrate American citizenship. Not only did Hearst have a wide readership of his many daily newspapers, but he had significant political connections, and in 1940, Congress designated the third Sunday in May as &/blog/category/student-life/feed/8220;I am an American Day.&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8221; President Harry Truman present the resolution, setting aside this date in honor of the American people, especially those who had recently become citizens of the United States.

The holiday quickly gained support and popularity through the efforts of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. Additionally, in 1944, Hearst sponsored a 16 minute film titled I Am an American, which was featured in American theaters, and subsequently became a top news story. It was an immediate hit. Within 5 years, the governors of the existing forty-eight states had issued state proclamations in agreement with the national holiday.

One of the most significant individuals in the development of the holiday was a Louisville, Ohio resident named Olga T. Weber. In 1952, she petitioned the leaders of the municipality to change the date of the holiday to correspond with the anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution. Once they agreed to it, she didn&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217;t stop there, and took her requests to the State, who also approved. In 1953, Olga went to United States Congress, and both the Senate and the House of Representatives approved her requests. The original resolution was overturned and a new law took its place. After Dwight D. Eisenhower signed it, the &/blog/category/student-life/feed/8220;I am an American Day&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8221; observation became &/blog/category/student-life/feed/8220;Citizenship Day&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8221; and moved to September 17.

Louisville, Ohio was the first city in the United States to celebrate Citizenship Day on September 17, 1952.

Another important figure in the creation of Constitution Day is Louise Leigh. Leigh, after taking a course in Constitutional History with the National Center for Constitutional Studies, was inspired to spread her newfound love of the Constitution throughout the country. In 1997, she founded a nonprofit organization called Constitution Day, Inc. to help encourage recognition of the importance of this national holiday.

Through her efforts,  became an official holiday alongside Citizenship Day in 2004 when, with the help of support from Senator Robert Byrd, the &/blog/category/student-life/feed/8220;Constitution Day&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8221; amendment to the Omnibus Spending Bill passed. In May 2005, the United States Department of Education backed the law when it announced that it would apply to any school receiving federal funds of any kind.

The two allowances of the law were that the head of every federal agency provide each employee with educational materials concerning the Constitution on 17th of September and that each educational institution which receives Federal funds should hold a program for students every Constitution Day.

The Constitution

Constitution Day, along with Independence Day and Presidents&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8217; Day, is an important part of the cultural heritage of the United States of America, because it recognizes the value of the American experiment, and the success of a nation of free people whose rights and liberties are protected by a written Constitution.

The Constitution consists of a preamble, seven original articles, twenty-seven amendments, and a paragraph certifying its enactment by the constitutional convention.

The Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme law of the United States. It is the foundation and source of the legal authority underlying the existence of the United States of America and the Federal Government of the United States. It provides the framework for the organization of the United States Government and for the relationship of the Federal government to the States, to citizens, and to all people within the United States.

The Constitution defines the three main branches of government: a legislature, consisting of the House of Representatives and the Senate; an executive branch led by the President; and a judicial branch headed by the Supreme Court. The Constitution outlines the powers and duties of each branch.

The United States Constitution was adopted on September 17, 1787, 224 years ago, by the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and ratified by conventions in each U.S. state in the name of &/blog/category/student-life/feed/8220;The People&/blog/category/student-life/feed/8221;. The Constitution has been amended twenty-seven times; the first ten amendments are known as the Bill of Rights.

The United States Constitution is the shortest and oldest written constitution in the world.

The Constitution has a central place in United States law and political culture. The handwritten, original document is on display at the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C.

Articles of the Constitution

The Constitution consists of a preamble, seven original articles, twenty-seven amendments, and a paragraph certifying its enactment by the constitutional convention.

Preamble: Statement of purpose

The Preamble states:

Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program

Tell us more about yourself, your background and what brought you to 17c起草社区.

My name is Rey PJ Celiz and I am one of the most recent graduates from the DMS program at 17c起草社区. I am an RVT as well as an RDMS both in Abdomen and OB/GYN. I sat and passed both Abdomen and OB/GYN registries sixty days before I completed my externship, and became an RVT a week before our graduation last month. I have always wanted to be in the healthcare industry since I was kid but I didn鈥檛 know which specific field I wanted to be in. So when a friend of mine, who works as a Rad Tech at Kaiser Permanente, told me about sonography, I researched it and was fascinated by its wide scope 鈥 abdomen, small parts, obstetrics and gynecology, vascular, echo, MSK, etc. I decided to go to 17c起草社区 because it is the only CAAHEP-accredited school in Los Angeles which is very important when deciding to get into the field of sonography.

What were the most useful classes you took?  The  most fun?

All of the major classes which include Ultrasound Physics, Abdominal and Small Parts, OB/GYN and Vascular Sonography as well as patient care classes were very useful. I really enjoyed both Abdomen and Vascular classes because my instructors were great. They made learning enjoyable and easy to understand which is crucial for someone like me who does not have prior experience in the medical field.

Tell us about the clinical portion of your experience.

I did my clinical externship at Adventist Health White Memorial which is a teaching hospital and a level II trauma center near Downtown Los Angeles. Lionel, who is the lead sonographer at White, believes that the best way for students to learn is by performing the exams like an actual ultrasound tech 鈥 from reviewing the patient鈥檚 clinical history to setting up the room, interacting with the patient, performing the exam and writing the preliminary report. In fact, I was scanning and performing exams on my own on my first week. At White, I have learned and performed various ultrasound-related diagnostic procedures which include abdominal, obstetrics and gynecology, small parts, MSK, fetal head and vascular studies as well as ultrasound-guided exams for all patients ranging from ER, inpatient, outpatient, ICU, labor and delivery, pediatrics, acute and sub-acute units. I am blessed to have learned all of these from the amazing sonographers, whom I consider my mentors, at White Memorial.

Tell us about your current job/opportunities.

I was recently hired as an Ultrasound Technologist at a 369-bed hospital in South LA. I thank Alex, our program director, and Debi and Patty, sonographers at White, for letting me practice before coming in for my panel and scanning interviews. I will be starting later this month and I am very excited for this opportunity where I can apply all the knowledge and techniques I have learned from both school and my externship site and further develop my skills as a registered sonographer.

How did 17c起草社区 prepare you for your current career?

CBD helped me by being CAAHEP-accredited. This means that it went through and passed a rigorous process to assess the program鈥檚 quality of education and compliance to industry standards. These assessments are conducted on an ongoing basis and CBD has consistently met the standards, which assures that its students are prepared and become successful as they enter their chosen health care field. This, along with the excellent instructors at CBD and my extensive clinical training at White, have surely prepared me for my new job.

If I choose 17c起草社区 as a student, what advice do you have for my time here?

My advice is to study hard and take advantage of all the services CBD has to offer. When the going gets tough, always go back to the reason why you entered your respective program in the first place. With the right intentions, everything will go smoothly and accordingly. Also, become registered in at least one specialty as soon as you can while continuously honing your scanning skills. This will not only look good on your resume but it will also help you stand out from other new grads, which will help you land that first job. Good luck!

stephen o. murray鈥淟esbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan. The Stonewall riots were a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. In the United States the last Sunday in June was initially celebrated as 鈥淕ay Pride Day,鈥 but the actual day was flexible. In major cities across the nation the 鈥渄ay鈥 soon grew to encompass a month-long series of events. Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia and concerts, and LGBT Pride Month events attract millions of participants around the world. Memorials are held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.

In 1994, a coalition of education-based organizations in the United States designated October as LGBT History Month.  In 1995, a resolution passed by the General Assembly of the National Education Association included LGBT History Month within a list of commemorative months. 鈥
